Job Description

The Wernimont Lab at the University of Minnesota is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team focused on placenta biology. Our lab investigates the mechanisms underlying placental development and function, with an emphasis on maternal-fetal health. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in reproductive and developmental biology. The position is full-time, initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding.

Key Responsibilities:
⢠Design and execute experiments to investigate key aspects of placenta biology.
⢠Utilize molecular, cellular, and bioinformatics approaches to analyze placental structure and function.
⢠Develop and apply novel techniques to study trophoblast differentiation, mitochondrial function, and nutrient transport.
⢠Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
⢠Analyze, interpret, and present data at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.
⢠Mentor graduate and undergraduate students as part of the lab's training mission.

Required Qualifications:

⢠Ph.D. in molecular biosciences, cellular biology, developmental biology, physiology, genetics, or a related field.
⢠Strong background in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and/or bioinformatics.
⢠Experience with placental biology, trophoblast research, or pregnancy-related disorders is preferred.
⢠Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
⢠Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

⢠Experience with next-generation sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, or imaging techniques.
⢠Proficiency in computational biology tools for transcriptomic and genomic data analysis.
⢠Familiarity with animal models of pregnancy or human placental tissue and orgnaoid studies.
⢠Demonstrated track record of scientific productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.
