Job Title: Pharmacy Operations Manager
Overview:
The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations, including staff supervision, workflow coordination, and service delivery across hospital facilities. This role ensures the effective and compliant distribution of medications, supports clinical pharmacy functions as needed, and works collaboratively with other departments to optimize pharmaceutical care and improve patient outcomes.
This position also serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for the designated community hospital and may oversee staff across multiple facilities. The Pharmacy Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting the overall mission of delivering high-quality, patient-centered pharmaceutical care.
Supervise day-to-day pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient workflows and compliance with regulatory standards.
Coordinate staff schedules and oversee medication distribution activities.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective medication use.
Act as a liaison with the hospital system's pharmacy administration team.
Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for the assigned community hospital location.
Support and mentor pharmacy staff; foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Step in to perform clinical pharmacist duties as needed.
Support the department’s vision of “Optimizing patient outcomes through integrated delivery of quality pharmaceutical care.”
Education:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor's degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.
Completion of a residency or advanced degree preferred, but not required.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience required.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold current licensure to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Candidates not currently licensed in Virginia must obtain reciprocity within 90 days of hire.
