The Opportunity

TECKpert is seeking a IAM Systems Architect (Okta) to join our team in support of our client, a government agency in Tallahassee, FL. This role is responsible for leading the implementation, configuration, and optimization of the Okta Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform. The Systems Architect will design and deploy solutions that support secure authentication, lifecycle management, adaptive MFA, identity governance, and privileged access.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement, configure, and maintain Okta modules: Universal Directory, Adaptive MFA, Lifecycle Management, RBAC, Identity Governance, and Privileged Access.
  • Integrate Okta with applications, Active Directory, HR systems, SaaS tools, and ZTNA security solutions.
  • Design automated provisioning/de-provisioning workflows and RBAC models aligned with least privilege principles.
  • Configure and manage access certifications, reporting, auditing, and governance policies.
  • Implement advanced privileged access features including Just-In-Time (JIT) access, step-up authentication, and session monitoring.
  • Document configurations, workflows, and architecture; provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure IAM alignment with agency standards.
  • Troubleshoot IAM and Okta-related integration issues and optimize system scalability/performance.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and IAM recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation and Term 

This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $120,000  per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.

Qualifications you need

A successful candidate has the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of IT experience, with strong focus on Security and Identity & Access Management (IAM).
  • Deep technical expertise in the Okta platform including advanced configuration and architecture.
  • Proven success implementing Okta in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience integrating Okta with SaaS, on-premises apps, Active Directory/LDAP, and security tools.
  • Hands-on experience with provisioning workflows, RBAC, and identity governance.
  • Strong knowledge of authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC).
  • Familiarity with security protocols, firewalls, proxies, and network concepts related to IAM.
  • Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python) for IAM tasks.
  • Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional IT and security teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with access certifications for privileged roles.
  • Experience setting up auditing, reporting, and governance within Okta.
  • Familiarity with API integration and management.
