Job Description

Our client, a global manufacturer of a unique class specialty chemicals and world leader in their market, requires an experienced chemical industry EHS professional to manage all their EHS efforts at their manufacturing facility near Columbus, OH. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership and development, communication, implementation and monitoring and compliance of safety and environmental programs for the site. Responsibilities :

  • Identify applicable EHS regulations and risks and implement systems to ensure compliance.
  • Provide coaching and oversight to facility personnel to ensure progress towards a zero injury and zero incident culture. 
  • Manage all aspects of the site Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
  • Facilitate, lead and embody EHS commitment to all employees on site as well as the greater community. 
  • Develop EHS goals for the site and develop training programs in support of those goals. 
  • Deliver timely technical support in the areas of regulatory compliance, reporting, testing, data management, enforcement action response and regulatory agency mediation. 
  • Utilize appropriate tools, programs and initiatives to ensure all permit terms and conditions are met. 
  • Identify, engage and utilize appropriate industry consultants and contractors as necessary. 
  • Proactively work to reduce risk via data collection and analysis. 
  • Manage all EHS related documents and contracts for the site. 
  • Stay current with relevant industry regulations, issues, technology and tools.  
  • Collaborate with Operations, Planning, Engineering, Legal, Senior Management and Corporate EHS functions to achieve site goals and objectives. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in EHS studies, Engineering or related field. 
  • At least 5 years of experience applying EHS management systems in a PSM regulated chemical manufacturing facility. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in relevant chemical industry Environmental, Health and Safety regulations. 
  • A "hands on", proactive approach to implementing and leading EHS policy, programs, initiatives and culture. 
  • Experience developing and implementing EHS training programs.  
  • Experience developing and implementing environmental stewardship programs. 
  • Understanding of risk management and loss control methodology. 
  • Ability to successfully collaborate across multiple functions and organizational levels. 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to listen and "connect the dots". Ability to deliver impactful presentations to a variety of audiences throughout the organization. 
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, the ability to supervise any direct reports and to influence others to work collaboratively to achieve goals. 
  • ASP, CSP or other relevant certifications or be in process of achieving. 
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
